Early Childhood Faculty

  Sondra Nelson, Lead Teacher Marigold Kindergarten 2016-2017 603-357-4442 x640 Sondra completed her Waldorf Early Childhood Training at Sunbridge Institute in Spring Valley, New York. Sondra brings a love for being in the outdoors with children, insight into the young child, and commitment to beauty and rhythm in the classroom.

Sondra holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science from Worcester State University.  She has been an interpreter at Denali National Park in Alaska, a teacher for Nature’s Classroom in Ohio and a volunteer on organic farms in New Zealand.  snelson@monadnockwaldorfschool.org

     
 

Casey Bernier, Support Teacher in Marigold Kindergarten 2016-2017 Casey holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Masters of Education in School Counseling both earned at Keene State College. She has worked in many different classroom and school settings throughout her education, bringing with her an understanding for warmth and rhythm. She enjoys learning with young children in the natural world and sharing in the joy and beauty that is early childhood.

Eliza Murphy, Lead Teacher Chickadee Nursery 2016-2017 603-357-4442 x641 Eliza completed Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training through Sophia’s Hearth in Keene. She also holds a Master’s Certificate in Nature-based Early Childhood Education from Antioch New England University.

Eliza has 10 years of experience as an early childhood educator, and especially enjoys nurturing young children's connection with nature. Before joining our faculty in the fall of 2015, Eliza was an assistant teacher in the Monadnock Waldorf School nursery and parent-child programs, has led a forest preschool program for toddlers, and provided child care through her home-based program, Little Pear Tree Children’s Garden.

Thia Zakrzewski Aftercare & Summer Program Teacher  603-357-4442 x639 Thia is a well-known and respected teacher, with 23 years’ experience teaching including: 6 years teaching at Loving Care home preschool, Keene, NH; 5 years as Director/Head Teacher Cobb Meadow School, Dublin, NH; 7 years as Grades Teacher at Monadnock Waldorf School; and 5 years Director/Head Teacher at Helping Hands Preschool Center, Marlborough, NH. tzakrzewski@monadnockwaldorfschool.org


     

 
     
     Libby Haddock, Parent/Child program Libby has been teaching young children for more than 30 years. For nine years Libby taught at the Well School in Peterborough, NH and for 20 years she taught full-time at Monadnock Waldorf School. Since her retirement from full-time teaching, Libby has been serving as a mentor for Waldorf Early Childhood teachers in schools throughout New England and mentors students in the Early Childhood Program at Sunbridge Institute in Spring Valley, N.Y. Libby's kindergarten training was completed at Forrest Row in Sussex, England in 1991. Libby completed a three-year training program in puppetry and performs along with head teacher Anne as part of the Cobb Meadow Puppeteers. Libby served on the board of Sophia's Hearth Family Center for 10 years and is an ongoing board member at Cobb Meadow. She and her late husband, Jim Haddock, are the parents of three sons and eight lovely grandchildren. Libby loves toy-making, gardening, searching for wild mushrooms, travel and, most of all, children.


 

    
     
  Jennifer Case, Parent/Child Program Jennifer completed her Waldorf Training Certification at Antioch New England University and holds an undergraduate degree in Art History from the University of Cincinnati. Jennifer is a dedicated nurturer who generously brings her love of children, animals and puppetry into her work with the Parent and Child Playgroup. Jennifer was lead kindergarten teacher at the Evergreen Garden Playschool in Devens, MA for 6 years and previously worked as an assistant nursery teacher at Pine Hill and Monadnock Waldorf School. A gifted puppeteer and puppet-maker, Jennifer performs folk tales for young children across New England with the Cobb Meadow Puppeteers. She is also a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and works with children and adults with disabilities in the care and handling of horses at Touchstone Farm and Plowshare Farm Lifesharing Community.
