Betsi McGuigan to Return to Monadnock Waldorf School as Lead Kindergarten Teacher
Monadnock Waldorf School is pleased to announce that Betsi McGuigan has accepted the position of Lead Kindergarten Teacher for the 2013-2014 school year.
Betsi has been an educator for over 30 years. She has worked for Campfire Girls and for Head Start. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho, and a Master’s degree in Waldorf education for both the grades and early childhood from Antioch University New England. She has been a Waldorf early educator at the Waldorf School of Cape Cod, Pine Hill Waldorf School, and for nearly 13 years at the Monadnock Waldorf School where she was known and loved for her warmth, ready laugh, thoughtful teaching, gifted parent work, and deep knowledge of the Waldorf curriculum. Betsi has been a regional leader for WECAN, the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America, where her duties include membership review visits to northeastern Waldorf early childhood programs and mentoring Waldorf Early Childhood teachers. Betsi currently serves on the board at Sophia’s Hearth Family Center. For the last six years, Betsi has served as both cook and Charitable Giving Coordinator at the W.S. Badger Company in Gilsum. Betsi lives in Keene with her husband, Kevin.
Monica Marshall to Lead Incoming First Grade Class
We are pleased to announce that Monica Marshall has accepted the position of First Grade Teacher for the 2013-2014 school year.
Miss Marshall, who currently teaches eighth grade at Monadnock Waldorf School, previously took a class from first through eighth grade at Monadnock Waldorf School and Waldorf School of Mendocino County in California.
Miss Marshall is a handworker, dramatist, and academician, as well as a lover of music and dance. She is known to be a dedicated, hard working, student-centered teacher, able to draw on her depth of experience and to embrace innovative and creative ideas. She loves being with her students and introducing them to new ideas and experiences.
In addition to her work with children in the classroom, Miss Marshall teaches at Rudolf Steiner College in Sacramento, CA during the summer months, and mentors new teachers in other schools. Her experience includes training new Waldorf teachers in South Africa prior to the fall of apartheid.
